Social and Emotional Learning for Schools

Empowering students by equipping the adults who care for them.

Discover and Grow partners with schools to create supportive learning environments where students can strengthen their emotional, social, and relationship skills. Our services align with CASEL’s schoolwide SEL framework and can be adapted to meet the needs of students, educators, caregivers, and the broader school community.

Whether a school is developing a long-term SEL strategy, supporting educator wellness, or planning a one-time workshop, we provide culturally responsive and engaging experiences that promote emotional growth, connection, and healthier school communities.

  • One-Time SEL Workshops for Parents and Students

Bring social and emotional learning to life through a focused, engaging workshop designed around the needs of your school community.

Our one-time workshops provide students and caregivers with practical tools for understanding emotions, strengthening communication, building confidence, and navigating everyday challenges. Each session is interactive, culturally responsive, and designed to create meaningful learning without requiring a long-term program commitment.

Workshops are offered virtually or in person and may be scheduled during the school day, in the evening, or as part of a family engagement event. Ideal for Title I programming, PTA events, school wellness weeks, parent engagement nights, and counselor-led initiatives.

  • Professional Development for Educators

Our professional development workshops help educators strengthen classroom relationships, support student well-being, and protect their own mental and emotional health.

Each session combines practical tools, guided reflection, and strategies educators can apply immediately in their classrooms and school communities. Workshops can be adapted for teachers, school leaders, counselors, paraprofessionals, and other school-based professionals.

    Workshop topics include:

    • Emotionally Attuned Classrooms
    • Teacher Wellness and Burnout Prevention
    • Trauma-Informed Practices in Urban Schools
    • Restorative Conflict Resolution
    • Building Stronger Relationships with Students and Families

Sessions are available virtually or in person in hourly, half-day, or full-day formats.

  • Schoolwide SEL Consulting

We help schools develop practical and sustainable approaches for integrating social and emotional learning into curriculum, school culture, behavior support, and family engagement.

Our consulting services are designed collaboratively, allowing each school to identify its priorities and build an approach that reflects the needs of its students, staff, and families.

    Support may include:

    • SEL planning and needs assessments
    • Schoolwide implementation strategies
    • School climate and behavior support
    • Family engagement planning
    • Virtual or in-person caregiver programming
    • Recommendations for strengthening school and family partnerships

Schools may select individual services or work with Discover and Grow to develop a customized SEL plan.

Parenting Support and Education

Because strong relationships are at the heart of strong families.

Discover and Grow supports caregivers in better understanding their children’s emotional needs and responding with greater confidence, empathy, and consistency.

Our parenting programs move beyond simple behavior management by helping caregivers recognize what children may be communicating through their actions. Families receive practical, evidence-based tools for strengthening connection, reducing conflict, and creating a more secure emotional foundation at home.

  • Circle of Security Parenting

Circle of Security Parenting, also known as COSP, is an eight-week virtual parenting program designed to help caregivers better understand their children’s needs for connection, comfort, exploration, and support.

Through guided video examples, group reflection, and practical discussion, parents learn to recognize the emotional needs that may be hidden beneath challenging behavior. Participants also explore how their own experiences and responses may influence interactions with their children.

During the program, caregivers learn to:

    • Understand their child’s emotional needs and respond more effectively
    • Build a secure and trusting parent-child relationship
    • Improve communication and reduce recurring conflict
    • Respond to challenging behaviors with confidence and compassion
    • Encourage emotional resilience, healthy development, and self-esteem
    • Recognize their own strengths, triggers, and patterns as caregivers

COSP offers parents a supportive space to reflect, learn, and practice new ways of responding to their children.

Next cohort information will be announced soon. Scholarships may be available for eligible families.

Community Campaigns and Awareness

Connecting families with culturally relevant tools, conversations, and experiences.

Beyond our school workshops and parenting programs, Discover and Grow develops community campaigns that bring mental health, family well-being, and emotional education into everyday spaces.

Our campaigns combine education, creativity, community engagement, and accessible resources. They are designed to reach caregivers and community members online, in schools, at local events, and through partnerships with organizations that share our commitment to healthier children and families.

  • Women Empowerment Campaign

You Are Beautifully and Uniquely Crafted

The You Are Beautifully and Uniquely Crafted campaign promotes women’s mental and emotional well-being through accessible self-care experiences, creative activities, reflection, and community connection.

Each February, Discover and Grow hosts its Galentine’s Women Empowerment Workshop, offering participants an opportunity to step away from daily responsibilities and intentionally focus on their own well-being.

    Our last experience included:

    • A hands-on floral arrangement activity supporting mindfulness and stress relief
    • Reflection prompts focused on identity, self-esteem, and emotional boundaries
    • Guided conversations about self-care and emotional maintenance
    • A calming environment with warm lighting, soft music, and vibrant floral elements
    • Take-home merchandise and affirmations featuring messages such as “You Are Beautifully and Uniquely Crafted” and “You Are Loved”

The workshop created space for attendees to pause, connect, express themselves creatively, and reflect on their emotional needs without judgment.

The campaign continues to grow as a platform for preventative mental health and community care. Its purpose is to make self-care feel practical, culturally relevant, stigma-free, and possible within everyday life.

  • Holistic Health Campaign and International Conference

    Padres Conscientes, Niños Felices

Discover and Grow created the Padres Conscientes, Niños Felices campaign in collaboration with Mi Gorda Realidad to provide families in the Dominican Republic and the diaspora with tools for supporting children’s emotional and physical well-being.

The campaign recognizes that children’s health is influenced by more than nutrition or exercise. Mental health, family relationships, self-esteem, attachment, behavior, community conditions, and daily routines are also essential parts of healthy development.

The campaign’s flagship event is the Padres Conscientes, Niños Felices Holistic Health Conference in the Dominican Republic.

    Conference topics include:

    • Understanding the relationship between mental health, nutrition, and behavior
    • Recognizing the emotional factors connected to childhood obesity
    • Supporting children without shame, criticism, or harmful labeling
    • Building secure attachment and stronger family relationships
    • Encouraging healthy habits that involve the entire household
    • Strengthening children’s confidence, resilience, and self-esteem
    • Providing caregivers with practical, trauma-informed strategies

The campaign reframes wellness as a family-centered process grounded in empathy, structure, education, and emotional connection. Its goal is to help caregivers move beyond short-term solutions and create sustainable habits that support the whole child.

Programming is presented in Spanish and English and is designed for caregivers, educators, community health workers, and family support professionals.

  • Divorce and Emotional Wellness Campaign

    Co-Parent Through Divorce with Confidence

Divorce and separation can create major emotional changes for both children and caregivers. Children may respond by acting out, withdrawing, becoming more dependent, or struggling with feelings they cannot yet identify or communicate.

The Co-Parent Through Divorce with Confidence campaign provides caregivers with practical tools for recognizing these emotional signals and responding in ways that promote security, connection, and trust.

Our free video training helps parents understand how children may communicate distress through behavior and how caregivers can respond with greater clarity and compassion during a period of significant change.

    The accompanying resource guide includes:

    • Common emotional signals children may communicate through behavior
    • Examples of how difficult feelings may appear in everyday situations
    • Guidance for identifying what a child may need in the moment
    • Gentle scripts for connection-based conversations
    • Reflection prompts to strengthen caregiver self-awareness
    • Strategies for supporting children across two households

The video and resource guide are designed to help co-parents work with greater intention, empathy, and consistency while keeping their child’s emotional needs at the center.
